Ford’s Recreational Towing Feature

Ford, a leading pioneer in the automotive industry, is known for incorporating innovative technology into its vehicles to enhance user experiences and optimally meet customer needs. One such groundbreaking feature in the Ford vehicle spectrum is Recreational Towing, otherwise referred as flat towing or neutral tow. Predominantly designed for towing the vehicle with all four wheels on the ground, this feature guarantees no harm to the transmission or gearbox while hauling. The Ford dealerships in Corpus Christi, Portland, Robstown, Aransas Pass, Rockport, Kingsville, Sinton, Port Aransas, Ingleside, and Alice, TX have these technology-loaded Ford vehicles available at their respective locations.

How to Use Ford’s Recreational Towing Feature

Ford’s unique 'Stay in Neutral' mode facilitates recreational towing, where the vehicle can be connected to another such as an RV, without damaging the transmission and gearbox. To employ this feature, follow the given set of steps:

  1. Engage the brake pedal and ignite the engine. Ensure the four-wheel-drive mode selector is in 2H.
  2. For vehicles equipped with a rotary shifter, station the transmission in the "Stay in Neutral" mode. This is achieved by moving the transmission selector into the neutral position. Subsequently, an information message will display prompting you to press the manual button. This confirms the "Stay in Neutral" mode has been activated.
  3. Next, stop the engine by pushing the Start Stop button. At this point, a "Transmission Not in Park" notification may exhibit in the information display.
  4. Transition the vehicle into the accessory mode by pressing the Start Stop button again without hitting the brake pedal.
  5. Actuate and sustain the brake pedal. Initiate the neutral tow mode through the information screen. This can be done by opting for Settings from the menu, then progressing to Advanced Settings, transition to Vehicle, and finally Neutral Tow.
  6. Ensure to press and hold the OK button until the display reads "Neutral Tow Enabled, "Leave Transmission in Neutral." This will followed by releasing the brake pedal and pushing the Start Stop button once more to turn off the vehicle.
